Thailand I

So, while here I’ve managed to figure out how easy it is to get around Hong Kong, markets are strange and wonderful places, and that I really enjoy food. I’m in the right part of the world.

Danielle and I went to Thailand which rocked! Pics are on The FB. Wish we could have gone to Thailand but airport access seemed unpredictable a week out so we changed plans and did a couple of more days on Koh Tao and Koh Samui.

She booked a a great little place that has cabanas at the far end of Sairee Beach on Koh Tao (http://www.kohtaocabana.com) so each morning we woke up to palm trees and the beautifully bright beach with clear blue waters.

The beach itself has several places to stay at but is quite raucous with a younger crowd swilling and spilling everywhere. But, that’s also where all the restaurants were and well worth the short trek. The best meal we ate was cooked right in front of us at a grill after we picked it out from the display table which was loaded with ice and seafood. I had squid and Barracuda while Danielle picked out enormous prawns. Uh-mazing. Delicious, especially her prawns. I was very jealous, but eventually learned she usually makes the tastiest food choices.

The next day we were just hanging out by the beach relaxing on the outdoor beds and we spotted a dog in the shallow water chasing fish. I grabbed my camera and took pictures of who we then began calling “Murray.” A cute mutt who didn’t really chase fish so much as his shadow and that of the waves in the shallow water.

The next night a thunderstorm kept us from going down to the beach for dinner. We were going back to the grill on the beach where Danielle ate the yummy prawns. So, we ate Sour Cream & Onion Pringles and Danielle played DJ for several hours attempting to show me how to dance. Luckily, these “gringo” hips put up a good fight!

Our last full day we headed out on mopeds we rented to find a place to snorkel. The water wasn’t deeper than two feet where we ended up, there were hordes of fish everywhere. It was so alive under the water that when we wanted to take a break we had to find a patch of sand to stand on so we wouldn’t disturb anything.
